Want to try Balboa? Come along to one of our introductory sessions.

Our Wednesday evening sessions are ideal for beginners, and are a great way to get started in the world of swing dance. We’ll cover the core moves to get you up on the dance floor in this fun and rewarding dance.

What’s Balboa?

Balboa came from Southern California during the 1920s. Balboa is named after the Balboa Peninsula in  Newport Beach, Califonia, where the dance was invented. It is a close hold dance that can be danced to fast swing music without breaking a sweat.

Do I need a partner?

You don’t need a partner as we like to rotate in class. But if you’d like to stay as a couple, just let us know.

Should I lead or follow?

You can do either! Anyone can be a leader or follower in Balboa so you can book as either role.

What should I wear?

Casual clothes that you’re comfortable moving in, and flat shoes that aren’t too grippy.
